Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. Her first roles on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across theatre and on television. she will continue that project with various upcoming ones. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. This film is an Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over 100 years. Ashford was the main character in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character as Essie. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
